9 is an upcoming film by Shane Acker produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov – the trailer came out for this film on Christmas Day but I’ve not really heard anything since:
The original short (below) won quite a few awards, and you can see why.
I really like the isolated feel the short has so I hope I still like the feature length adaptation – either way the character design is just awesome.

I don’t understand the cultural fascination with failure being the source of great lessons to be learned. What did you learn? You learned what didn’t work. Now you won’t make the same mistake twice, but you’re just as likely to make a different mistake next time. You might know what won’t work, but you still don’t know what will work. That’s not much of a lesson.

This year (as last) they come from Amref (Women’s Rights Violation), Amnesty (War On Terror), Emergency (Healthcare Deprivation), Greenpeace (Nuclear Emergency), Lila (HIV/AIDS), Unicef (Child Labour) and WWF (Climate Change). (2008 results)
