Spotted on Boing Boing today:
The Morgan Library in New York is currenty exhibiting one of the great masterworks of medieval illumination, the Hours of Catherine of Cleves. All 157 miniatures have also been digitized.
Anyone who likes medieval illumination should definitely check it out. Page 75 is a personal favourite, a depiction of Hell itself which upon closer examination appears to be inhabited by a demon with something of a resemblance to everyone’s favourite stabby robot:

…children as young as eight had the remarkable ability to identify and characterize upwards of 120 different Pokemon characters. However, when the same rubric was applied using photos of “real” flora and fauna (animals and plants that lived in the children’s back yards) the results were simply horrendous.
Basically kids can remember Pokemon but not actual animals – the solution? Make Pokemon cards for actual animals (Gadsberry and I were way ahead of the curve on the animal top trumps) – anyone interested in submitting can check out the phylomon site or their Flickr group.
