Could you eat an Elephant?

Watched this on Channel 4 last night, I think I…

Could eat: Snake, Rat, Jewel Beetle (as long as it was in the paste they had it in) and I’ve already eaten Horse

Wouldn’t want to eat but could if I had to: Blackbirds (not too sure on crunching the brains, but fine with the rest of it) and maybe Elephant

Couldn’t eat: Maggot Cheese, Dog

I’m still undecided on Monkeys – until i saw the programme I thought I’d’ve been ok with them but they did look a bit too much like skinned babies for my liking – maybe if they were bigger?

Not-so-superpowers

A list of superuseless superpowers – I think my favourite of which might be the complementary chameleon – though as John said, as useless superpowers go being able to turn invisible but only when no-one can see you takes some beating.

Fresh Fish

The tuna auctions at Tsukiji Fish Market are now back open to the public, and it’s an experience I heartily recommend everyone tries.

That said I’m not sure this is quite the way to do it:

Some tourists had been caught hugging, licking and even riding the huge frozen tuna that are Tsukiji’s most arresting sight, an official said.

Words

Feck, arse, drink…

My favourite thing I’ve learnt from my Word Origin Calendar (second best non-Christmas present I got for Christmas) is that:

The word “girl” originally referred to a child of either sex, possibly coming from the Old-English word gierela, a garment that children wore. See also: Metonymy.
